Malibu Camping

So…I’ve never been camping before. Not, really. You know…pitching a tent, fireside cooking, being in the middle of no where. I’ve wanted to try it out since we got married, knowing that Nate loves it so much. So, camping in Malibu seemed ideal, being that it’s on the beach and wedged in the middle of canyons with some great hiking trails. We went with two of our close couple friends, who both have children under 2 years old (in other words, they’re badass for trying out camping with kiddos).

We stayed for just two nights over the weekend, which was a nice ease into the world of camping (plus,we were in Malibu…so…). I dare say there was nothing that I didn’t like about it. We went to the beach, the guys surfed, we hiked up the canyons, cooked our meals over the fire, ate too many s’mores and drank a lot of wine. There were, of course, the inconveniences of camping, but they were expected and therefore easy to get over. The campsite we went to was in the Leo Carrillo State Park, right off Pacific Coast Highway and about a 2 hour drive from Orange County. It was worth the trek through LA to camp near one of the most beautiful beaches in California, so if you live in CA, dooooo it.

Here are some photos Nate and I took over the weekend!
